Daniel Henney stars in X-Men Origins
If you followed Daniel Henney's career, you'll see that his decision to become
an actor in Korea paid off big time. Originally from Michigan, Henney was a
standout basketball player before graduating from Carson City-Crystal High School
in 1998. He attended University of Illinois at Chicago on a scholarship before
leaving in 2001 to persue his modelling career in Asia and Europe.
After trying unsuccessfully to break into Hollywood, Henney made the decision to seek acting opportunites in S.Korea. This was extremely risky, since Henney didn't speak the Korean language and only learned as an adult. Henney made is acting debut in 2005 in a cameo appearance in “Hello Franceska” before making his full debut with “My Lovely Sam Soon” that same year. He stayed busy with another drama role in “Spring Waltz” before venturing into film with “Seducing Mr Perfect” and “My Father”.
Henney was named Best Dressed and Best Newcomer at the MBC Comedy Awards, and later won the Best New Actor award for his role in "My Father" at the 28th annual Blue Dragon Awards at the National Theater in Seoul.
Henney is now making his big Hollywood debut in one of the most successful movie franchises of the past decade. In the fouth installement of the "X-Men" series, Henney will play the role of Agent Zero who is a deadly hand-to-hand combatant, a precision marksman, and an expert in covert operations and demolitions. He also has vast experience with computers and communications equipment.
"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is due for release on May 1, 2009.
The film is directed by Gavin Hood and is a prequel to the "X-Men" film trilogy, focusing on the mutant Wolverine and his time with Team X before Wolverine's skeleton was bonded with the indestructible metal adamantium. Set 17 years before "X-Men," the movie will focus on Wolverine's violent past and his early encounters with William Stryker. The Weapon X program and Wolverine's interactions with other mutants will be explored, including his complex relationship with Victor Creed (Sabretooth).
