A trio of Koreans star in Dragon Ball
Jamie Chung (Samuri Girl), Joon Park of (G.O.D) and Randall Duk Kim (Matrix)
will be part of Hollywood's version of the popular Japanese based manga Dragonball.
The Stephen Chow live-action production brings together the story of Goku, who
seeks out upon his adoptive grandfather Grandpa Gohan's dying request to find
the great Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls. Of which he has one,
in order to prevent the evil Lord Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use
the Dragon Balls to take over the world. And Goku's quest is to obtain the mystical
Dragonballs before Piccolo does.
Jamie Chung, the 25-year-old Korean-American TV actress is making her Hollywood debut playing the role of Chi Chi, a pretty college student who is also an expert martial artist. “Going from small cable shows to a major motion picture with a big budget, everything is bigger so I just love it. For a first movie experience, it was the best.” said Chung. To prepare for the role, Chung had to train in kickboxing, karate and Thai boxing.
Joon Park, now in his second Hollywood film after `"Speed Racer" plays bad boy Yamcha, a thief turned Z fighter. Joon was especially trilled to have worked with one of his favorite Chinese actor Chow Yun-fat. "Mr. Chow is such a huge star but on the set he is so humble and professional, and gave me a lot of guidance" said Park.
Randall Duk Kim, best known for playing The Keymaker in The Matrix Reloaded, will play the role of Grandpa Gohan. Randall must be fond of playing Kung Fu Based roles, as he was the voice of Oogway, from the Kung Fu Panda and will have a role in the upcoming film Ninja Assassin
